South Africa: bus with 80 passengers overturns, at least 16 dead

At least 16 people died and others 20 were injured last night in bus overturning in the province of Western Capein western South Africa. The local authorities confirmed this. The bus, with approx. on board 80 passengerswas traveling from Cape Town a Idutywain the Eastern Cape province, reported the Road Traffic Management Corporation (Rtmc) on X. Among the passengers there were some children but it is not clear whether they were among the victims.

“It appears the bus swerved sharply to avoid a collision with a delivery van, when the driver lost control and the vehicle overturned“, explained the RTMC spokesperson, Simon Four.
