Austria as a business location: 35 visions of the future for 2035

Many goals have already been set for 2035. The EU stipulates that from 2035 all new cars that come onto the market should be emission-free. Until then, the federal government will pursue the Industrial Strategy 2035 in order to make Austria’s manufacturing sector more competitive again. And the Young Economy advocacy group has developed an entrepreneurial vision for 2035. 35 people from business, science and society outline how Austria needs to be positioned in less than ten years so that young people can set up businesses, take over businesses and further develop companies. The book “35 Looks Ahead” was created for this purpose and was presented last week.

Biggest construction site: Mindset

In the 35 visions of prominent personalities – from the bank manager Andreas Treichl up to the Infineon CEO Sabine Herlitschkait’s about hard facts like access to capital and how technologies don’t end in the lab. But most often it’s about the mindset, which needs to be worked on intensively in the next few years. Waterdrop founder Henry Murray describes, for example, the path from the lecture hall to your own company, which is shorter than ever. “Today, an idea can be turned into reality more quickly than ever before,” he writes. However, he is convinced that capital and infrastructure are not the necessary prerequisites. But curiosity and the willingness to try things out.

designer Marina Hoermanseder sees creativity as a central driver of innovation. “Real entrepreneurship doesn’t start with a business plan, but with an inner attitude,” she writes. We need permission to think big, she demands. However, in Austria you would currently grow up in a culture that values safety more highly than risk.

Also an entrepreneur Karin Teigl aka Constantly K focuses on the right mindset and calls for people to encourage each other more. “Hopefully in 2035 we will have understood how important cohesion is.” Especially as a founder, you would immediately be confronted with doubts from outside any idea. “If we support each other more, believe in each other and push each other, then much more can happen.” Note: The book was published as part of a future project and is not distributed commercially.
