The Investigative Committee reports that the two soldiers arrested in the case of spreading information containing state secrets have been detained.

According to the investigator, one of them is the commander of one of the military units of the Defense Ministry, Colonel Edik Maloyan. As part of the proceedings, Romen Javadyan, the officer in charge of secrecy of the same military unit, was also detained.

According to the investigative body, Maloyan, not having the right to get acquainted with the relevant secret information, pushed the officer who had access to that information to publish it, and then he himself published the illegally obtained information.

Maloyan was charged with publishing information containing state secrets after illegally obtaining them and inciting to publish them. The other soldier is accused of publishing state secrets.

Narek Karapetyan, who heads the electoral list of the “Strong Armenia” bloc, defended Maloyan and linked Maloyan’s arrest with political motives.

The investigation is ongoing.
