KNVB takes action against racist insults directed at Dutch players

The Dutch football federation (KNVB) announced this Friday that it has filed criminal complaints after the racist insults that Justin Kluivert, Quinten Timber and Crysencio Summerville received after missing their penalty shots in the elimination in the round of 32 of the World Cup against Morocco.

“Unfortunately, it is never possible to 100% guarantee that all racist reactions will be identified and punished, but the KNVB is doing everything possible to send a very clear message: there are limits, and whoever crosses them must face the consequences,” the KNVB said in a statement.

The highest body of Dutch football indicated that football “unites millions of different people”, while discrimination has the opposite effect. “This goes against everything that football represents,” the federation had declared in a statement the day after its elimination from the World Cup. Several offensive posts have been removed on X so far.
