La Jornada: Increases the weekly subsidy for gasoline and diesel: SHCP

The Ministry of Finance and Public Credit (SHCP) slightly increased the weekly subsidies it applies to regular gasoline and diesel.

In an agreement published in the evening edition of Official Gazette of the Federation (DOF), the agency indicated that from July 4 to 10, the federation will provide 17.85 percent of the fiscal stimulus applicable to diesel. Thus, consumers will pay 6.04 pesos of the special tax on production and services for each liter they purchase.

In this way, the SHCP maintains this support for Mexican families, since diesel is one of the energy sources that has the greatest impact on the inflation level, because it is used in the transportation of goods and passengers.

In the case of regular gasoline, the federal government will provide a weekly subsidy of 10.62 percent to the consumption tax. Users will pay 5.98 pesos of the tax for each liter they purchase.

Energy companies also have other federal support, since the current administration maintains agreements with the gas sector so that a liter of diesel does not exceed 27 pesos, while for magna gasoline the price must be below 24 pesos. In the case of Premium gasoline, the federal government will not apply any subsidies.
