Stocks today, July 3: VN-Index decreased nearly 10 points this week

In the first half of the morning, stocks traded quite positively when the general index sometimes increased nearly 7 points compared to the reference. However, the increase was mainly supported by the group of pillar stocks when nearly half of the codes on HoSE dropped in price.

After 10 hours, VN-Index fell below the reference. This index remained red throughout until the end of the session. The HoSE representative index closed on 1,867.2 points, down more than 4 points compared to yesterday.

For the whole week, VN-Index decreased nearly 10 points. Stocks reversed after 2 consecutive weeks in the trend of improving scores. The common point of the market this week is that it is strongly influenced by large capitalization groups when liquidity remains low.

This is also evident in today’s session. 20 stocks in the VN30 basket decreased, causing the VN-Index to adjust, most notably GAS, LPB, PNJ, and BID. On the contrary, the entire HoSE floor had 199 stocks going backwards, nearly double the number of stocks going up. However, the index only dropped more than 4 points thanks to two important supports, VHM and HVN.

The total transaction value on the Ho Chi Minh City market recorded nearly 15,700 billion VND, down more than 9% compared to yesterday. Throughout this week, HoSE liquidity has always been below the billion USD threshold.

In addition, market psychology is also influenced by foreign cash flow developments when foreign investors had 4 net selling sessions this week. Today, the net selling value was recorded at about 805 billion VND. However, no stock was net sold over a hundred billion.

In the news before trading hours this morning, VPBank Securities (VPX) said that cash flow has not improved significantly, causing the spread among industry groups to be limited. Most stocks are still moving divergently and have not yet formed a widespread consensus upward trend. Liquidity is still low, showing that investors are cautious and demand is not really ready for a strong breakthrough.

Therefore, the strategy recommended by VPX is to maintain a reasonable stock proportion. Investors can prioritize industry groups that are attracting cash flow and wait for confirmation signals of liquidity before increasing their proportion.

Meanwhile, Beta Securities (BSI) noted that market liquidity remains low and foreign investors’ trading trends are important factors to monitor in the near future. Although the short-term trend remains positive, stocks still have a high possibility of shaking. Therefore, investors need to consider limiting purchases of stocks showing signs of hot growth in a short period of time and comply with discipline when using leverage.

“With macro policies implemented to support economic and business growth, investors can prioritize accumulating shares of businesses with strong fundamentals with positive business results prospects,” the BSI analysis team advised.
