Trump grants license to Ukraine to manufacture the long-awaited Patriot missiles

The president of the United States, Donald Trump, announced this Wednesday that he will grant Ukraine the necessary permission to manufacture Patriot missiles, kyiv’s main demand at a time when its lack of supplies coincides with a renewed wave of Russian attacks on the Ukrainian capital.

“We are going to grant you a license to manufacture Patriot missiles,” Trump told Zelensky during the meeting that the two held on the sidelines of the NATO summit that is being held these days in Ankara, Turkey.

Trump has praised the capabilities of Ukrainian forces and is confident that despite the “complexity” of manufacturing this arsenal, they will know how to do it. “Most countries would not be capable, they do not have the necessary talent. You have very talented people,” praised the head of the White House.

As for Zelensky, Trump has praised his “impressive work”, but has suggested that it was thanks to the capabilities that the United States has given him. “They’ve had the best team, they’ve had our team, but someone has to use that team, and you have a lot of brave people who are using it,” he said.

For his part, the Secretary of State, Marco Rubio, has highlighted that the long-distance Ukrainian attacks that have been taking place in recent months are “one of the dynamics that have changed in this war”, in which the Russians are finding it more difficult to defend their own airspace.”

In recent times, Zelensky has been insisting on the need for the United States to allow them to build their own Patriot missiles, at a time when the Ukrainian Army is having considerable difficulty equipping air defense systems, given the inability of the rest of the partners to meet their demands.
