The Muga bookstore (Madrid) announces its withdrawal from the Association of Bookstores due to the dismissal of Eva Orúe from FLMadrid

Muga’s bookseller, Igor Muñizannounced this Friday that its bookstore has discharged of the Association of Bookstores of Madrid after they ceased last Monday to the until then director of the Book Fair, Eva Orúe.

“We want to announce that the Madrid Book Fair 2026 is the last one that Librería Muga will make. As of today, July 10, we have withdrawn from the Madrid Bookstore Association, without which you can’t participate at the Book Fair. The reason for this decision is that we do not agree with the dismissal of the director of the Book Fair, Eva Urúenor with the lack of confidence of the Board of Directors expressed as a reason to give up,” Muñiz explained in a video.

Thus, he added that “the way in which the period” of Orúe has been closed “does not corresponds to your dedication and your results“. “For that reason we have decided to leave the association,” he explained.

Although they have wished him “best of luck” to the entity because “it has a complicated path ahead”, Muñiz has specified that Muga “no longer wants or can participate” in its “plans”.
