Valencia Basket hires the promising Mario Saint-Supéry for the next four seasons

The Spanish basketball player Mario Saint-Supéry, a 20-year-old point guard who is 1.94 meters tall, has become a new Valencia Basket player for the next four seasons, until June 30, 2030.

Born on April 14, 2006 in Malaga, “the Spanish international thus returns to national basketball after his time in the NCAA to put himself under the command of Xavi Albert,” as indicated this Saturday by the ‘Taronja’ entity on its website.

“In a context of continuous exodus of talent to American lands, the Andalusian player has seen in Valencia Basket the perfect project to continue developing his career, betting on finishing his university days and returning to Spain to demonstrate his ability at the highest competitive level. Saint-Supéry also arrives with good feelings from this American adventure, in which he has gone up to 8.6 points and 3.8 assists for an average rating of 11,” added the press release.

“Trained in the training categories of Unicaja Málaga, he amazed the national scene by becoming one of the youngest players to debut in the Endesa League and the Basketball Champions League at just 15 years old. After standing out in his formative stage, continuity comes in the form of a loan with the UBU Tizona Burgos, where he scores 11.8 points per game with 46.5% accuracy in three-point shots for an average rating of 11.9 per game,” the official statement stressed.

Then the same note added that “his progression caught the attention of BAXI Manresa, in a new loan from Unicaja that gave him the alternative to the highest level, and the player showed that the leap was not too big for him: 33 games in the Endesa League with 8.3 points, 2.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists on average, for a rating of 8.5.”

“Precisely as far as rating is concerned, he would reach double digits in up to 15 games, leaving his best mark in 24, signing it up to two times. Also with the Catalan team he had the opportunity to participate in 12 games of the Basketball Champions League, in which he managed to sign 16 points for a rating of 18 as the best performance,” Valencia Basket detailed in its press text.

“His notable growth caught the attention of American universities, which bet heavily on his incorporation. In his first year in the US, he had adapted quickly to also be an important player, scoring and distributing the game, with numbers of 8.6 points with 40.3% accuracy in outside shooting and 3.8 assists for 11 average rating,” stated the note from the Valencian club.

“Burning stages at breakneck speed in the training categories of the Spanish team, he was crowned MVP of the U-16 European Championship in 2022, averaging a spectacular 21.9 points, 6.0 rebounds and 4.1 assists per game to win the silver medal. A year later, he repeated the medal at the U-18 European Championship in 2023,” the note highlighted.

“His meteoric progression reached the final international level in November 2024, when he debuted with the senior team at 18 years and 7 months. Since then he has consolidated and accumulated 13 caps, an impact that was reflected, for example, in Eurobasket, after averaging 8.2 points and 2.8 assists per game,” the statement concluded.
