Germany is financing the production of 50,000 attack drones for Ukraine. Reuters source

This is the largest publicly known batch of drones purchased by the West for Ukraine, the news agency writes.

The attack drone order includes Shrike first-person-view (FPV) UAVs built by major Ukrainian manufacturer SkyFall. They are equipped with the software of the American “Auterion” defense technology company, which is designed to independently pursue and hit moving targets in the final stage of flight.

General director of “Auterion” Lorenz Mayer confirmed the contract amount, detailing that it is worth around 90 million euros and was financed by a European country. Mayer told Reuters that part of the ATS is already in Ukraine, and the rest is planned to be delivered to the country at war with Russia this year.

He noted that this year, the company is supporting Ukraine in supplying a total of 100,000 UAVs in cooperation with various equipment manufacturers and with the financing of several Western governments.

SkyFall confirmed Germany’s involvement, but said the company could not comment on the details of the purchase.

Both the German and Ukrainian defense ministries declined to respond to Reuters’ inquiries about the contract.
