Ukraine attacks Russian ships with drones

Ukraine said this Sunday (12) that it attacked 14 Russian vessels, including ten oil tankers and four ferries. The commander of Kiev’s Unmanned Aerial Systems Forces, Robert Brovdi, released images of the attacks on Telegram.

Ukrainian authorities did not disclose the exact location of the actions. According to the Ukrainian commander, drone forces hit 90 Russian vessels in the last seven days.

While Kiev announced the attacks on Russian vessels, the governor of the Rostov region, Yury Slyusar, said that a Ukrainian drone hit a tanker at the entrance to the Azov-Black Sea Canal.

According to the governor, the attack caused a fire, but teams managed to control the flames. The vessel was empty at the time of the action, which avoided the risk of an oil spill. Russian authorities also reported that there were no casualties.

The attacks on vessels are part of the Ukrainian strategy to target Russia’s energy infrastructure. Actions against refineries and facilities linked to the fuel sector caused impacts on Russian domestic supply.

Russia faces queues at gas stations after attacks on the energy sector

Russia’s Deputy Prime Minister, Aleksandr Novak, acknowledged this Friday (10) problems in the supply of fuel and spoke about queues at gas stations.

“We must recognize that there are problems and there is a deficit, that’s why we see queues. Sometimes gas stations do not work stably. The deficit is due to understandable reasons, due to the fact that refineries partially stop working due to drone attacks,” Novak told Russian media.

On Wednesday (8), the Russian government announced temporary restrictions on diesel exports. The measure came after Ukrainian attacks on Russian refineries and in the face of difficulties in domestic supply.

Russia responds with attacks on Kiev and Odessa

In response to Ukraine’s campaign against its energy sector, Russia reported this Saturday (11) that it carried out attacks on Ukrainian military and port facilities overnight.

The Russian Defense Ministry said it used long-range precision weapons and drones against targets in Kiev and the Odessa region.

According to the ministry, the attacks targeted Ukrainian military industry structures responsible for the production and storage of long- and medium-range drones.

Additionally, Moscow said it hit port facilities in Odessa, Chornomorsk and Izmail. The Russian government stated that these locations were used to store and transport military equipment, fuels and lubricants.
