Two dead after small plane crashes in Austria

Two people died this Sunday after a small plane crashed near Neuhaus, in southern Austria. Two other people who were traveling in the plane are seriously injured and have already been hospitalized.

The deceased are the pilot, a 47-year-old man, and a 47-year-old woman who was traveling on the plane, according to Austrian public television, ORF.

A 15-year-old girl is in serious condition and has been taken by helicopter to Linz and a 41-year-old man, also in serious condition, is already hospitalized in Amstetten, explained a spokesman for the emergency services, Philipp Gutlederer.

The device departed from the Seitenstetten airfield and crashed around 11:00 a.m. in a mountainous area, the Police reported, highlighting the extensive rescue operation launched after the incident.

In addition to the Police, firefighting, high mountain rescue and ambulance resources were mobilized, as well as two helicopters. One of the main problems of the operation was that there was no mobile phone coverage in the area and communication was carried out only by radio.
