Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, the game becomes an anime series

Aniplex and Crunchyroll reveal the first teaser dedicated to the animated adaptation of the game by Sucker Punch Productions. The project brings together a team of leading authors, including Gen Urobuchi, to tell the story of the samurai resistance against the Mongol invasion

Aniplex and Crunchyroll have released a teaser trailer in the form of character art to announce the animated transposition of Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, a multiplayer spin-off of the famous PlayStation title developed by Sucker Punch Productions. The series will debut on the streaming platform during 2027.

The plot will follow one of the last remaining samurai, committed to defending his homeland, the island of Tsushima, from the advance of the Mongol Empire. A narrative structure that takes up the historical setting and epic tones already appreciated in the original video game, transposing them into the language of serial animation.

We find Takanobu Mizuno directing, while the production will be handled by Hayate Inc. The Kamikaze Douga studio will instead take care of the actual animation. On the writing front, the project boasts the signature of Satoshi Maejima and Gen Urobuchi, with the latter who will also take on the role of responsible for the composition of the story. To complete the creative picture, the character designs will be entrusted to Takashi Okazaki.
