Apple is working on renewed versions of the Apple Pencil with a new battery system to facilitate repair

Apple is working on renewed versions of their Apple Pencil pencils specifically updating the model that charges via USB-C and the Apple Pencil Pro, which will include new battery systems to facilitate repairs and they will arrive hand in hand with their new iPad Pro models, according to Gurman.

The company intends align with the objectives of the European Union (EU) regarding reparability, including regulations such as 2023/1542 relating to batteries and their waste, which requires that, from the February 18, 2027las batteries integrated into certain devices sold in the EU must be easily replaceable by end users at any time during the useful life of the product.

In this sense, those from Cupertino are preparing new versions of its two Apple Pencil models currently available. On the one hand, they are developing a model with an internal name B582which is an updated version of the Apple Pencil con carga USB-C, initially released in 2023.

Following this line, they are also developing another model that they refer to internally as B632which is a version of Apple Pencil Pro with wireless charging, which arrived in 2024 with specific pressure, rotation and haptic responses sensors.

This was shared by Bloomberg journalist Mark Gurman in his newsletter Power On, where he clarified that these new versions are being designed to comply with the requirements of the European Union and, therefore, are expected to include new battery systems, in order to make them easier to repair exchanging this component, to extend its useful life.

Specifically, Gurman has clarified that these new Apple Pencils will be available with the launch of the new iPad Pro modelswhich will be announced during the next springalong with the new redesigned entry-level MacBook Pro. This will put an end to one of the problems presented by the current Apple Pencil, which has a design based on glued parts, which makes its repair significantly difficult.
