Russian air command post Tu-214PU arrived in Iran

Russia sent a Tu-214PU aircraft to Tehran, equipped as an air command post with secure communication channels, The Times of India reports, citing data from flight tracking services.

The aircraft is equipped with encrypted communication channels and control systems that allow coordinating the actions of government and military structures in times of crisis. Because of this, it is often called the “Doomsday Plane.” The Tu-214PU is operated by the special flight squad “Russia”, which usually transports senior leadership of the Russian Federation.

The publication notes that the arrival of the plane may indicate high-level contacts between Moscow and Tehran amid the worsening situation in the Middle East. The purpose of his flight was not officially announced.
