The average graduation grade is 2.7. The two best graduates go to study in the Netherlands

Mauro Kritovac from Zagreb, XV. gymnasiums, and Benjamin Bojan Vojković from III. high school in Osijek are the best graduates of the first term of this year’s state graduation. Mauro wrote the mathematics and physics exams with 100% accuracy, and Benjamin Bojan wrote mathematics and chemistry with 100% accuracy.

Their successes did not surprise their families and teachers, who are nevertheless very proud of them. From the beginning of his education, Benjamin has been an exceptional student with outstanding talents for mathematics, chemistry, physics, and even logic. Every year he represented his High School at state competitions in the above subjects, and once he was the state champion in chemistry. This, the last school year, he participated in seven national competitions. Of course, he is extremely satisfied with his graduation.

‘I’m glad I got the chance’

– I think that graduation went well for most of my friends from high school. I don’t know anyone who is dissatisfied. The school prepared us excellently for those exams and we knew what was waiting for us. Some subjects were more difficult than last year, and some were easier, such as, for example, Croatian language. The topic for the essay was simple. Mathematics and chemistry are easy for me, so there were no surprises or problems – said Benjamin, who is older. chose his further education path.

Već enrolled to the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, but in Eindoven in the Netherlands.

– It is an excellent faculty that I read a lot about and wanted to study there. I’m glad I got the chance. The Netherlands has a different way of education and a lot of advantages compared to our colleges. Tuition fees for students from the EU are subsidized, and living expenses can be covered by working alongside studies, so I plan to work there – says Benjamin.

Mauro participated in physics competitions throughout high school, for which he received the Oscar of Knowledge. He was also successful in Taekwondo. He also continues his education in the Netherlands, at the Technical University in Einhoven. As he tells us, it was the competitions that best prepared him for graduation.

– I didn’t expect that I would do so well in my graduation, but when I started writing I saw that I could do it. The competitions gave me the best preparation for graduation and that helped a lot, and outside of school I only solved old graduation exams. I chose the faculty in the Netherlands because it is a rare university that offers a wide range of studies in English, and I was immediately attracted to that. I plan to return to Croatia one day – he told us.

More and more of them report the basic level

At least one exam 49 students wrote with 100 percent accuracy. However, the results are somewhat worse than last year. For example, this year, 7.6 percent of high school students failed their matriculation, for whom matriculation is a requirement for graduating from high school. Last year, they fell by a little more than 5 percent in the summer term. 6,523 students passed the compulsory exams, of which 764 were high school students, and the rest were students of vocational schools.

The average grade at this year’s state matriculation exam is 2.7, at least one exam was failed by slightly more applicants than last year, and more and more applicants are applying for the basic level of the exam, this is a short summary after the announcement of the final results of the first term of matriculation.

As he reported Vinko Filipovićdirector of the National Center for External Evaluation of Education (NCVVO), 29,481 candidates took the exams, of which 10,606 were high school students. The number of applicants this year was 1,000 more, because about 500 more vocational school students applied, and about 500 more other applicants.

Applicants are the best wrote the English language, with a passing rate of 99.1 percent at the higher level. Mathematics is the worst written exam of the compulsory subjects, with an average grade of two. But it is also interesting how the highest level of mathematics was solved with 100 percent accuracy by the most students out of all the exams, 17 of them. That is twice as many as other exams.

5,869 applicants (21.7%) dropped out of the Croatian language, which is five percent more than last year.

– I was pleasantly surprised by the results of the essay and the Croatian language test in general. 323 applicants wrote an essay with 100 percent completion, and the low percentage of graduates who did not pass the test, only 3.6 percent, is more satisfactory – said Filipovi.

Most of the objections came from Croatian and biology

As for the essays, 998 of them failed because they did not have enough words, but last year twice as many failed because of that. 915 applicants submitted a blank sheet, and 886 did not correctly answer the initial question. It is also twice less than last year.

By the way, there were also the most objections to the Croatian language – 2411, and from biology – 1139. Out of a total of 6940 objections to the first degree, 2562 (36.9%) were accepted. On II. degree, there were 347 objections, of which 25 (7.2%) were accepted.

– Artificial intelligence is causing us more and more problems, this year in many more cases than last year it was recognizable that the complaint was written by artificial intelligence. There were all kinds of objections, for example, one high school graduate who failed because he did not have enough words in the essay, wrote an objection with more than 2,000 words – said Filipovi.

Mathematics and informatics are the worst

Mathematics is the most poorly written exam of the compulsory subjects. A quarter of the high school graduates failed the higher level, and 17.8% of the high school graduates failed. But it is also interesting how the highest level of mathematics was solved with 100 percent accuracy by the most students out of all the exams, 17 of them.

The most poorly written elective exam was informatics, which more than 60% of high school graduates failed. OF the optional subjects, fine arts and geography are the best written. Physics, the optional exam that most high school graduates apply for and write, was failed by a third of those who wrote it.

The director of NCVVO is satisfied with the results that revolve around the lean trio.

– Our goal is to make balanced exams in which the passing rate is 50%, which we mostly achieved. State graduation and high school are not comparable when we talk about results. Matura is a test that checks the knowledge acquired over four years, and the final grade in the 4th grade is the result of monitoring achievements throughout the current year, for which teachers are preparing their students – concluded Vinko Filipovi, and they congratulate all on-call teachers and coordinators for their work. to work.

College admissions

With announcement after the final results of the state matriculation exam, the final lists for university admissions were published. The Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science in Zagreb were the most popular this year as well. In the first five are the Health Center, Faculty of Medicine and Faculty of Law in Zagreb.

When looking at the ratio of first choices and quota, acting is by far the most sought-after major at the Academy of Dramatic Arts in Zagreb. 126 candidates applied for 12 first choice positions.

After acting, the most sought-after health schools are the Faculty of Health Sciences of the University of Split (Physiotherapy), the University of Health Sciences in Zagreb (Radiological Technology), the Faculty of Education and Rehabilitation of the University of Zagreb (Speech Therapy), and the Faculty of Dental Medicine and Health in Osijek.

More than 500 study programs have enrolled one or no students, but these are primarily places for Croats outside the Republic of Croatia, that is, places for those who finished high school before 2010. However, when looking at the number of study programs that enrolled less than 10 students, the number is still large, more than 330.
