Stocks today July 16: Vingroup group ‘carries’ the market

The stock dropped about 18 points as soon as the opening price trading orders were executed. After that, the market recovered, gradually surpassing the reference. However, selling pressure increased continuously, causing VN-Index to quickly turn red, dropping more than 20 points before lunch break.

In the early afternoon, the general index dropped more sharply, nearly 25 points away from the reference. However, from 1:30 p.m., the market gradually improved, returning to above reference after only 30 minutes. Despite shaking during the ATC session, the VN-Index still closed above 1,804 points, up more than 22 points compared to yesterday.

However, the market fell into a state of “green shell, red heart” when the HoSE exchange had 152 stocks that decreased in price, more than 134 stocks that increased. Selling pressure concentrated on construction – materials, resources, retail, oil and gas… Meanwhile, real estate and stocks had more positive developments.

According to VnDirect’s calculations, the pair of “family” stocks Vin is the main support for the market today when VIC and VHM contributed a total of nearly 16 points to the increase of VN-Index. Vingroup shares accumulated 2.8% to 223,000 VND per unit, liquidity reached more than 890 billion VND, ranked 2nd in the entire market. Vinhomes’ stock code increased by 5% to 142,800 VND with liquidity of over 650 billion VND.

On the contrary, groups putting pressure on the market include HPG, BSR, BID, PNJ and HVN. In particular, PNJ shares were at the floor price of 40,600 VND from the end of the morning until the middle of the afternoon session with more than 7.3 million units changed hands. However, active buying at the end of the hour helped the market price of this code improve slightly to 40,900 VND, a decrease of 6.3%. PNJ today has liquidity of more than 600 billion VND, of which foreign investors continue to net sell nearly 148 billion VND.

The current decline has caused PNJ shares to lose nearly 35% of the market price. Accordingly, the capitalization of the leading enterprise in the jewelry industry was also blown away by nearly 11,400 billion VND, causing PNJ to lose its position as a billion-dollar company.

Improving according to the score, the total transaction value on HoSE reached nearly 19,300 billion VND. This level is 25% higher than the previous session.

Foreign investors continue to prioritize selling goods, but the net selling value has decreased to about 26 billion VND. In addition to PNJ, foreign investors also focused on selling SSI, FPT, VPB or CTG. On the contrary, three codes were net bought over a hundred billion including VIC, ACB and VHM.

In the news before trading this morning, Beta Securities (BSI) said that VN-Index is still in a short-term correction trend. Therefore, investors need to remain cautious in “surfing” transactions and limit the use of leverage.

However, with economic support and business promotion policies implemented, BSI still expects to accumulate shares of companies with solid fundamentals, benefiting from the current macro policy context. In addition, the group that is forecast to have positive business results in the second quarter and the second half of the year is also recommended for more consideration.
