Bundesliga: Hoeneß believes that Stiller will stay: “There is a lot” that speaks for it

Coach Sebastian Hoeneß from VfB Stuttgart has indirectly confirmed media reports about the expiry of national player Angelo Stiller’s release clause. “I mean that he doesn’t have the opportunity to leave if he wants to go. We have a hand in it, as we do with many other players,” said the coach at the start of the Bundesliga club’s preparations. Like the other World Cup participants, Stiller will only join later.

Both the “Kicker” and the “Bild” newspaper had reported that the anchored exit clause of 36.5 million euros was only valid until July 15th. Several top European clubs have been linked with Stiller, whose contract ends in 2028, in the past. However, the interest never became concrete.

Hoeneß: “He knows exactly what he has here”

“I think he knows exactly what he has here,” said Hoeneß, who maintains a close relationship with his 25-year-old protégé. “And I don’t think there are that many clubs left that are significantly better than VfB Stuttgart. That’s what we’ve worked on over the last three years.”

Therefore, in the coach’s opinion, there is “a lot” to suggest that Stiller will stay on the Neckar beyond the end of the changeover period. Otherwise, “something extraordinary” would have to happen, said Hoeneß.
