Nations League in Serbia: German volleyball players face elimination after defeat against Iran

It was the sixth defeat in the tenth game for the German Volleyball Association selection. The Germans lost 3-1 against Slovenia on Wednesday. The game continues against hosts Serbia on Saturday (8 p.m./ZDF live stream).

“We missed a lot of chances – especially in the first set. I think we shouldn’t have lost the first set,” said setter Jan Zimmermann. “When it gets to the fifth set, you never know what will happen.”

EM as a highlight in September

In the Nations League, the 18 best teams for men and women compete against each other. After twelve games in the group stage, the seven best and the host of the final tournament advance to the knockout phase, which this year will take place in China. The German women missed the quarterfinals.

The most important tournament of the year is the European Championships. It will take place from September 9th to 26th in Italy, Bulgaria, Finland and Romania. After being eliminated in the group phase at the World Cup last year, the DVV men want to play stronger again there.
