Ex-Signa manager wants to pay creditors 0.0142 percent quota

Pirolt submitted his application on July 15, 2026 – one day before an important deadline. “Up until this deadline, consumers in Austria were still able to apply for a shortened levy procedure with a term of only three years. This regulation was introduced in 2021 in response to the corona pandemic, but expired after five years. Anyone who applied later no longer has a chance of debt relief under this model,” said the AKV.

Minimum quota payment plan

Although the bankruptcy proceedings were originally opened as a company insolvency, Pirolt is now considered a consumer. The reason: He has lost his entrepreneurial status and now only receives dependent income.

Pirolt offers its creditors a payment plan: They should receive a quota of 0.0142 percent of their claims in five annual installments. With registered insolvency claims amounting to around 1.265 billion euros – the majority of which is still disputed or has not been examined.

If the creditors do not agree to this payment plan, a three-year repayment plan should be initiated. The insolvency administrator must now check the proposal for appropriateness and feasibility. The insolvency court must also decide whether the payment plan will even be allowed to be voted on.

Criminal conviction as a risk

For Pirolt, time could become the deciding factor. According to the AKV, even if the creditors agree to a payment plan, it can be declared void by the court – if Pirolt is legally convicted of fraudulent Krida within two years of confirming the plan.

Fraudulent Krida occurs when someone intentionally conceals, conceals or damages assets in order to harm creditors. Signa founder René Benko was legally convicted of this offense in July 2026.

The court can also refuse to initiate a repayment plan if, at the time the payment plan is agreed, there is already a legally binding conviction for fraudulent Krida, favoring creditors, thwarting enforcement or false inventory of assets. It is currently unclear whether charges will be brought against Pirolt. According to reports, Pirolt denies all allegations. The presumption of innocence applies.
