At Farnborough Leonardo focuses on multi-domain and security alliances

Leonardo returns to the Farnborough International Airshow 2026 with a multi-domain technology portfolio, strengthening its role as a global security player. At the center of the Group’s strategy, continuity and growth of production capacity: from the Eurofighter to the new generation GCAP program, from the M-346 and M-345 trainers to the unmannedup to helicopters and anti-drone technologies.

The CEO Lorenzo Mariani linked this strategy to the evolution of the international scenario, which requires a more solid and timely industrial response. Leonardo aims to strengthen production capacity, make supply chains more resilient and accelerate technological development, combining industrial strengthening and international cooperation.

Leonardo’s offer on security and defense

In the aviation domain, the Group presents one of the most complete offers in the sector, from fighters Eurofighter Typhoon to GCAP, from the M-346 Block 20 and M-345 trainers to the AW149 helicopter, up to the Proteus autonomous demonstrator and Collaborative Combat Aircraft solutions. In the terrestrial domain Leonardo accelerates with the joint venture Leonardo Rheinmetall Military Vehicles and the acquisition of IDVs, with armored vehicles, artillery systems and radars. In the maritime domain, the Group focuses on next-generation sensors and Combat Management Systems, while in space it develops its own Earth observation constellation and space surveillance capabilities.

To summarize the multi-domain vision is the Michelangelo Domeintegrated architecture that connects sensors, command and control systems and effectors into a single scalable ecosystem for air and missile defense.

Leonardo and Baykar announced the full operation of the joint venture at the Show LBA Systemswith registered and operational headquarters in Italy and 50% equal shares. The activities on the Astore Levante and Kizilelma platforms will be carried out in the Leonardo factories: production of the first batch of Astore Levante is already underway, with the first deliveries in Italy expected by the end of the year. The TB2 and Akinci platforms will instead be built in the Italian Baykar plant.

New order from Saudi Arabia

Leonardo has received an order for 11 helicopters AW139 by The Helicopter Company, a subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund and the country’s main commercial helicopter operator. Deliveries are expected between 2027 and 2028, under the framework agreement signed in 2024 which provides for the potential acquisition of up to 130 helicopters.

Agreements with Indonesia

Leonardo has signed a contract for 12 multirole combat aircraft with the Indonesian Ministry of Defense M-346F Block 20which leads Indonesia to become the 23rd user country of the M-346 family, with deliveries expected from 2030. The Group, together with PT ESystem Solutions and the Ministry of Defense, has also signed a letter of intent for the supply of helicopters AW149 to the Indonesian Navy, with the development of local technical assistance and training capabilities.
