Karim Adeyemi reinforces Barça’s lead until 2031

FC Barcelona announced this Thursday the signing of German forward Karim Adeyemi, from Borussia Dortmund, to reinforce the attack of the team coached by Hansi Flick, in an addition with which the Blaugrana club adds speed, overflow and offensive versatility to its squad.

“FC Barcelona and Borussia Dortmund have reached an agreement for Karim Adeyemi to become a new Blaugrana player for the next five seasons, until June 30, 2031,” the club announced in a statement.

The 24-year-old German international comes to the Blaugrana team from Borussia Dortmund, a club he joined in the summer of 2022 and with which he has played four seasons, after making himself known at Austrian Red Bull Salzburg.

Born in Munich on January 18, 2002 and with dual German and Nigerian nationality, Adeyemi can act as a winger on both wings, although his natural position is the right, in addition to playing as a center forward. Left-handed, he stands out for his speed, ability to attack spaces and ability to unbalance one-on-one.

Trained in the youth ranks of TSV Forstenried and Bayern Munich before joining the Red Bull structure, he definitely exploded at Salzburg, with whom he won three Leagues and an Austrian Cup before making the jump to Borussia Dortmund.

In the German team he has accumulated 98 Bundesliga games, with 23 goals and 17 assists, in addition to playing 48 Champions League games, in which he scored 16 goals and seven assists, reaching the final of the competition in the 2023-24 season.

In total, among all official competitions, Adeyemi has played 312 games as a professional, with a balance of 107 goals and 66 assists. Last season he participated in 41 games with Borussia Dortmund, in which he scored 12 goals and distributed 11 assists, regaining offensive prominence although without finally entering Germany’s squad for the 2026 World Cup.

He lands at the Spotify Camp Nou with the challenge of relaunching a career that just a few years ago placed him among the great emerging talents of European football. Although his progression stagnated in recent campaigns, he maintains physical and technical conditions that fit with Flick’s offensive style, who will try to recover the best version of a footballer called to provide depth, speed and imbalance to the ‘culer’ attack.
