Peruvians spend 2.5 hours a day on domestic tasks: the technology that seeks to reduce that time

For decades, cleaning the home involved repeating the same sequence: sweeping, vacuuming and mopping. However, technological evolution is beginning to break that logic. Today, a new category of household appliances It proposes performing these tasks in a single pass, reflecting a change in consumer expectations, who are no longer looking only for cleaning, but also to recover time for other activities of daily life.

According to Euromonitor International and different market studies, the floor vacuum cleaner-washing category maintains one of the highest growth within the domestic cleaning segment, driven by consumers seeking to reduce cleaning times without sacrificing results.

“For many years we assumed that cleaning well meant spending more time and using various implements. Today that logic is changing. Innovation no longer seeks to make people clean more, but rather to clean better, with less effort and in less time. This change is what is driving the growth of this category in the world and which is now also beginning to consolidate in Peru.”says Paul Saldaña, commercial manager of Tineco Peru.

In Peru, household chores continue to occupy an important part of the daily routine. According to a report on time use and unpaid domestic work, people spend 2.5 hours a day on activities such as cooking, cleaning and washing. In this context, the search for solutions that allow optimizing that time has become more relevant, especially in homes with pets, small children, or where hybrid workdays are part of daily life.

“The consumer no longer asks only about power or design. They also want to know how much time they can save, if a single piece of equipment can clean different surfaces and how easy it is to maintain. They are no longer looking for just an appliance; they are looking for a comprehensive solution for the home and adapted to the real life of families,” adds Saldaña.

Although floor vacuum cleaners are already a consolidated category in markets such as the United States, Europe and Asia, in Peru there is still an important opportunity to promote their adoption and publicize their benefits.

In this context, Tineco, recognized by Euromonitor International as a world leader in the floor vacuum cleaner-washing category and with a global share of 35% in 2025, is celebrating two years of operations in Peru, promoting this technology through equipment that incorporates intelligent sensors and self-cleaning systems to adapt to different cleaning needs.

“A few years ago the conversation revolved around which was the most powerful vacuum cleaner. Today the true value is in how much time a person can recover to dedicate to their family, their work or their rest. That will be, without a doubt, the evolution that will mark the future of this category,” Saldaña concludes.
