Athletics: DLV nominates sprinter Ansah for the European Championships despite the procedure

Ansah became German champion over 100 and 200 meters last weekend in Bochum in a convincing manner. He started there even though NADA is investigating a violation of anti-doping regulations. Immediately before his departure for the Diamond League meeting in Monaco, Ansah did not submit a doping sample at home on July 9th, even though an inspector had asked him to do so. Ansah said in a statement from the association that he was under time pressure and was unable to submit a sample at such short notice, also because he had recently visited the toilet.

The best German sprinter was not suspended and is currently eligible to compete. He is also normally a permanent member of the German 4×100 meter relay team, which has medal chances in Birmingham. If there is no longer a verdict in the proceedings before the European Championship, the DLV must decide whether to appoint Ansah or waive him as a precautionary measure. In the event of a subsequent ban, there could be a risk of the European Championship results being canceled and possible medals being withdrawn.
