The discussion and vote on the request for authorization to use the chats of the former FdI undersecretary for Justice, Andrea Delmastro, with Mauro Caroccia in the Chamber, scheduled for today, has been postponed. The issue returns to the attention of the Chamber’s Authorization Committee, whose Bureau is scheduled for 10.10am. This was learned during the meeting of the group leaders’ conference.
The reason for the slippage
The postponement of the examination by the Chamber of the request on the use of Delmastro’s chats and the return to the Council is consequent, as explained at the end of the group leaders, to the letter received this morning from the Prosecutor Lo Voi. For this reason, the Council is entrusted with authorizations for the relevant initiatives, following which the discussion in the Chamber will be rescheduled.
“The President of the Chamber explained that he had received the letter from the Rome prosecutor Lo Voi an hour before the meeting of the conference of group leaders. We were ready to vote today” in the Chamber on the request to use the chats of the former undersecretary Delmastro, the referral to the Council “is an anomalous procedure, it is not possible to reopen the investigation just because the Prosecutor’s Office is thinking of sending further documents”. This was stated by the group leader of Forza Italia in the Chamber, Enrico Costa, who warns: in this way “we are opening a precedent: an hour before the vote a document is sent and the Chamber is blocked”.

“The Bureau of the Committee for authorizations has been suspended and will resume after the end of the Chamber to continue the work and to decide, among other things, whether the members of the Committee will be able to access the chats sent by the Prosecutor’s Office”.
