Samsung paired the name Ultra with the Galaxy Z Fold line, reflecting the trend of folding phones getting closer and closer to the experience of traditional high-end smartphones.

Samsung’s thinnest and lightest generation of Galaxy Z Fold

In the early generations, folding phones were often thicker and heavier than stick-shaped smartphones because they had to integrate two screens and a hinge mechanism, while still ensuring durability after hundreds of thousands of folds and opens.

In recent years, folding phones tends to become increasingly thin and light. Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra has a thickness of 4.1 mm when opened and weighs 215 grams, equivalent to or even lighter than some current bar-style flagship smartphones despite still using a folding design.

To achieve that, Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra uses the Flex Titanium screen structure, combining the Armor Flex Hinge hinge and Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) layer. Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is the first Galaxy Z Fold model to have this structure – both helping to reduce overall thickness and increase the bearing capacity of the screen. This change reflects the general trend of the folding phone market: not only racing for thinness but also optimizing the holding experience, daily use and durability of the device.

Seamless multitasking screen and Ultra standard performance

Large screen is the most obvious advantage of folding phones, but is only effective when coupled with powerful enough hardware and software optimized for multitasking. Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra has an 8-inch main screen, maximum brightness of 3,000 nits, anti-reflective coating and improved folds, making reading documents, word processing or working outdoors more convenient.

The high-end mobile processor version Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy takes care of multitasking tasks such as opening multiple applications simultaneously with Multi Window, switching between windows or handling workloads large while still maintaining stable responsiveness.

When connected to an external display via the Samsung DeX feature, the device switches to a desktop interface, supports mouse and keyboard, serving tasks such as word processing, spreadsheets, presentations or working on a browser without having to carry a laptop.

Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra is also equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery and fast charging 45 W, better meeting the continuous use needs of people who often work and multitask on large screens.

The first folding Galaxy to be equipped with an S Ultra standard camera

For many years, the camera has been one of the big differences between folding phones and high-end bar smartphones. Due to prioritizing space for the hinge and two screens, folding phone models are often not equipped with camera systems equivalent to traditional flagships. Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra has narrowed this difference with a 200 MP main camera and a 50 MP wide-angle camera – parameters that previously mainly appeared on the Galaxy S Ultra line.

The folding design also brings its own advantages in the content creation process. The flexible folding feature (Flex Mode) allows the device to be placed on a flat surface to take photos or record videos without the need for additional accessories. The large screen makes reviewing, selecting and editing images more convenient right on the device. Thanks to that, folding phones no longer only serve the needs of content consumption but increasingly better meet the process of recording, editing and sharing on the same device.

Experience the Ultra standard Galaxy AI on a large screen

AI is increasingly popular on smartphones. However, on traditional screens, using AI tools often means switching between multiple applications or narrowing the display space of the content being processed.
