Prime Minister Le Minh Hung had a phone call with the Prime Minister of the Netherlands, proposing to expand the acceptance of Vietnamese students to research key industries such as AI and semiconductors.

In a phone call from Government Headquarters on the afternoon of August 11, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung proposed that the two sides continue to further strengthen the exchange of delegations, especially at high levels, strengthen political trust, aiming to upgrade relations to new heights, and proposed to continue to coordinate and support each other at multilateral and international forums.

The Prime Minister hopes that Vietnam – the Netherlands will make economic, trade, investment and financial cooperation the main pillar in bilateral relations, making the most of the EVFTA Agreement; Promote the Dutch Parliament to soon ratify the EVIPA Agreement to create favorable conditions for businesses from both sides to expand their markets, while connecting bilateral financial and securities markets and attracting international resources to participate in developing the International Financial Center and capital market in Vietnam.

Suggesting new directions, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung proposed to promote more effectively the two existing Strategic Partnership frameworks on Climate Change Response and Water Management (2010) and Sustainable Agriculture and Food Security (2014); strengthen cooperation in green transformation, digital transformation, and sustainable development; At the same time, science – technology and innovation become one of the new pillars of cooperation.

He proposed to soon unify agreements on science – technology cooperation, innovation and semiconductor technology; Focus on implementing R&D center projects, training high-quality human resources, connecting Vietnamese businesses to the Dutch semiconductor supply chain, especially with ASML group.

In cooperation in education – training, culture and people-to-people exchanges, Prime Minister Le Minh Hung proposed that the Netherlands give more scholarships and expand the acceptance of Vietnamese students to study key industries such as AI, semiconductors, science and technology, and blue ocean economy.

The Prime Minister also asked the Dutch side to simplify visa procedures for Vietnamese tourists and continue to support the Vietnamese community in the Netherlands to integrate smoothly, promoting its role as a bridge of bilateral friendship.

Prime Minister Rob Jetten highly appreciated Vietnam’s ambitious development goals, especially the goal of maintaining a double-digit GDP growth rate, saying this is a “huge opportunity” for the two countries to expand cooperation.

The Netherlands wishes to become an important partner of Vietnam in the region, and is ready to further expand and deepen bilateral relations, aiming to upgrade relations between the two countries.

The Prime Minister of the Netherlands also expressed his desire to organize delegations to Vietnam to explore and expand cooperation opportunities, thereby increasing the presence of the Netherlands in the Vietnamese market and in the region.

Mr. Jetten highly appreciated the positive contributions of the Vietnamese community to Dutch society, and emphasized that the Netherlands is committed to actively accelerating the ratification process of the EVIPA Agreement.

The two Prime Ministers discussed regional and international issues of mutual concern, affirming the strategic importance of ensuring peace, stability, security, safety and freedom of navigation and aviation in the region and the world, on the basis of international law, especially the 1982 Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS).
