Restaurants and hotels must go beyond the expectations of guests and diners, using technology and information to offer unforgettable experiences, said Yesenia Vázquez Monroy, director of Abastur.

Announcing the 2026 edition of North America’s largest exhibition for the hospitality industry, Vázquez Monroy highlighted the importance of innovation and transformation to exceed customer expectations and provide them with memorable experiences.

For her part, Claudia Ramírez del Palacio, executive president of the National Chamber of the Restaurant and Seasoned Foods Industry (Canirac), emphasized the crucial role of gastronomy in attracting tourists to Mexico. He noted that 30 percent of a tourist’s spending goes to restaurants, which underlines the importance of the value chain in that industry.

The executive president of Canirac highlighted the alliance with Abastur, which seeks to connect the sector with more than 720 thousand establishments in Mexico. This collaboration offers restaurant entrepreneurs access to a wide range of products and services, including food, beverages, furniture, technology and guidance.

Givette Pérez Orea, director of the National Association of Hotel Chains (ANCH), highlighted the importance of Abastur to make the magnitude of the sector visible, pointing out that a single hotel room can house at least 100 suppliers.

He commented that by multiplying this figure by the number of rooms available, the considerable dimension of the impact of the hotel industry can be appreciated.

He underlined the economic importance of the industry, mentioning that a formally established hotel room generates at least 1.5 direct and three indirect jobs.

The director of the ANCH also recognized the opportunity that the event provides to hotel chain buyers.

Vázquez Monroy explained that Abastur will bring together more than 520 suppliers at the Banamex Center from August 26 to 28.
