LinkedIn, which owns the social network of the same name, is closing its R&D center in Israel and laying off 35 employees.
The Israeli center was opened four years ago on the basis of the startup Oribi, purchased by the company for $90 million.
Israeli development teams focused primarily on creating tools and technologies for LinkedIn’s advertising and marketing products.
The company is not leaving Israel completely and will continue to conduct commercial activities here – about 15 people will remain on staff. This group handles the marketing and sales of LinkedIn products, such as recruiting and advertising for Israeli organizations.
Recall that in May of this year, LinkedIn cut 5% of its staff worldwide.
