With an eye on the national team, Ancelotti goes to Europe to observe three Brazilians; see targets

The coach of the Brazilian national team, Carlo Ancelotti, was at Stade Pierre-Mauroy, last Friday (28), to watch the 2-2 draw between Lille and Paris Saint-Germain, in Ligue 1.

Keeping an eye on the team’s next commitments, Ancelotti observed the Brazilians Alexsandro, Lucas Beraldo and Marquinhoswho were on the field: the first for the home team; and the other two, by the Paris team. At the same time, he closely followed his son’s work Davide AncelottiLille coach and his former assistant.

In front of 48 thousand fans, Davide took charge of his second game in the French Championship and prevented PSG from achieving their first victory in the competition, despite the end of the match being quite dramatic. In Lille’s home debut in this edition of the competition, the team was leading 2-0 until 46 minutes into the second half.

It was then that PSG went in search of a heroic draw. The team led by coach Luis Enrique reduced the score with Vitinha, at 46, and tied with Marquinhos, at 50, taking an important point from a match that seemed lost.

Ancelotti looks at options for the Brazilian team

Of the three Brazilians used in the match, the main highlight was precisely Marquinhos. PSG captain, the defender scored in the last seconds and secured a draw for the Parisian team, in addition to presenting a secure defensive performance.

Marquinhos’s continuity in the Brazilian team, however, is still unknown. After being eliminated by Norway in the 2026 World Cup, the 32-year-old defender left his future with Amarelinha open. Who was also observed for the defensive sector was Lucas Beraldo.

Absent from the squad for the last World Cup, the defender revealed by São Paulo could once again appear among those chosen by the Italian coach. At PSG, he has also been tested in a new position, as a midfielder.

Beraldo’s situation is similar to Alexsandro’s. The Lille defender had already been called up by Ancelotti, right at the beginning of the Italian’s work in the national team, and played good football, but was left out of the following squads and, finally, from the Brazilian list for the World Cup.

Brazil will return to the field in three friendlies on the next FIFA Date, between the end of September and the beginning of October. The team will face Australia on September 25th and 29th and India on October 3rd. The last clash will be unprecedented, as Brazil and India have never faced each other.

Carlo Ancelotti accompanies his son against former club

As previously mentioned, in addition to observing possible names for the national team, Carlo Ancelotti followed the work of Davide, who began a new experience as head coach of a club, now on the Old Continent. The son of the Brazilian commander took over Lille after spending six months at Botafogo.

Davide began working on his father’s coaching staff in 2012, initially as a physical trainer. He played the role at PSG and Real Madrid before becoming an assistant coach at Bayern Munich.

The partnership between father and son continued in the following years and reached the 2026 World Cup. After the competition, Davide resumed his career as a head coach in Europe. The match also had special meaning for Carlo as it involved one of his former clubs. The Italian led PSG between January 2012 and June 2013, before taking over at Real Madrid.

Despite spending just a year and a half, Ancelotti won the French Championship with the Parisian team. This time as a spectator, he saw his son’s Lille draw against his former team.
