Rockstar Games reveals 26 minutes of GTA VI gameplay: Jason and Lucía’s cooperation in a living open world

This Thursday Grand Theft Auto VI: An extended look was released, a 26-minute ‘gameplay’ that includes parts of the plot of Jason and Lucía, the characters that surround them and all the details of the open world of the new Rockstar Games title, which focuses on the cooperation of the two protagonists.

RockStar Games and Netflix have broadcast a 26-minute trailer that shows more details of Grand Theft Auto VI, before its launch on November 19, which is also now available on YouTube so that everyone can discover the new title that conveys the spirit of the saga with exploration, driving, crimes, shooting and cinematic scenes with the story of the two protagonists, Jason Duval and Lucía Caminos.

“It’s certainly a step forward in every way for us: the size of the world and how deep it feels. It’s a little shocking when you walk in there and see the density of the traffic, the amount of population and how faithfully they react to you,” said Rockstar North co-director Rob Nelson in an exclusive interview with IGN.

This is a GTA VI ‘gameplay’ that was captured with a PlayStation 5, as indicated at the end of the video, and in it you can see everything from chases with the police, to the characters that will be part of the guiding thread of the storylike Boobie Ike at the beginning when they visit a local band, or a relaxed chat that takes place at Lucía Caminos’ house, in which Jason opens a refrigerator to show the behavior of the interface, while the protagonist changes clothes in her room.

A video that fully shows the importance of the interaction between both protagonists as the basis of the gameplay of GTA VI, whether taking turns driving and shooting during police chases, to see Jason shooting out the window while Lucia drives the vehicleor that in other missions, Lucía sneaks in to avoid being detected while Jason fights hand-to-hand with dozens of enemies.

‘An extended look’ also shows the great dimension of the open world of GTA VI with panoramic views of Vice City, the main city where the story and game takes place, in which you can appreciate the level of technical detail in the architecture, inspired by the city of Miami, and which is transferred to the streets in police chases, riding with an electric skateboard or the various urban races that appear in the 26 minutes of footage.

Rockstar has included a large number of extra activitiessuch as kayaking, robbing stores or banks, car races on different circuits or even motorcycles, as well as visiting nightclubs, with activities such as dancing.

MORE DETAILED INFORMATION

Rockstar North (Edinburgh) invited a series of media and content creators to a preview of GTA VI, among which is the Spanish streamer El Rubius, who, after the premiere of ‘An extended look’ this Thursday, shared more detailed information about the gaming experience that the new Rockstar Games title will offer when it launches on November 19.

Information that expands the dimension of the GTA VI gaming experience, such as the size of the map which, as Nelson commented in an exclusive to content creator TGG, is twice that of GTA V, with a populated area 11 times larger than that of the previous title of the saga; or the relationship system of the two main characters, not mandatory, through which the player will be able to respond to the messages that Lucía sends to Jason’s phone, as well as hold hands or carry out activities together.

The same thing happens with the car theft system, which becomes more complex compared to that of previous titles, which was based on pressing the triangle button, with different levels of security that will require different tools to unlock them; or the police system which, apart from the six quest stars, now requires a non-playable character (NPC) witness the crime or a gun is fired so that the patrols go in search of the two protagonists. Additionally, four icons are included that indicate the specific data that the authorities have (face, clothes, vehicle and partner) of Jason or Lucía, and which will have to be eliminated.

Finally, and to better understand the work that the company has carried out, Nelson, one of the co-directors of Rockstar North, has indicated that it took him 80 hours of gameplay to complete the title (between main story and optional objectives), according to The New York Times report.

A title that takes on a stratospheric dimension only in the animations, since it has more than 600,000 (when GTA V had about 55,000), citing the words of Rockstar North’s also co-director, Aaron Garbut.
