Zelensky denounces a Russian attack on the headquarters of the Security Service and promises a “tangible response”

The president of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, denounced this Friday a Russian attack with drones on the headquarters of the Ukrainian Security Service in the capital, kyiv, an incident for which the number of victims is still unknown.

In a message on social networks, he confirmed that a Russian drone has hit the central building of the Ukrainian Security Service, “in front of the Saint Sophia Cathedral.”

“All emergency services are on site. All those affected will receive the necessary assistance. The drone was aimed directly at the office of the head of the Security Service in that building,” said the Ukrainian president, referring to the head of the agency, Oleksandr Poklad, with whom he has maintained telephone contact.

Zelensky has announced retaliation, noting that Poklad has orders to give “an adequate and tangible response to the Russians.” “As far as possible, one that replicates this attack,” he noted, advancing a reciprocal attack.

Along the same lines, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, Andri Sibiga, has indicated that the attack represents a “major escalation” of the conflict that “demands resolute responses.”

“Moscow launches this attack during a renewed push for peace, which reveals its true rejection of diplomacy,” stressed the head of Ukrainian diplomacy, who has asked that international partners “unambiguously condemn these actions” and increase pressure on Moscow.

kyiv has been denouncing a military escalation in the conflict, with Russia’s declared intention to maintain what it considers an advantage in the war before sitting down to negotiate an end to hostilities.
