“Assembled in San Francisco, designed in Argentina”: This is Ato, the screen-free AI computer for older adults that works with voice

The project, designed by entrepreneurs Juan Pedro Cereigido y Gaspar Habifwas born in a workshop in the Buenos Aires neighborhood of Núñez inspired by Cereigido’s own grandfather’s difficulties using smartphones. After validating their proposal in a beta program used by more than 2,500 older adults around the world, the initiative took the international leap by moving its assembly to San Francisco.

Ato’s central premise is Eliminate the frustration of complex mobile apps and intentionally overloaded. The device It is activated by simple voice commands and engages in fluid conversations about everyday topics, football or culturein addition to offering cognitive games to exercise memory, newsletters and access to thousands of radio stations.

On a practical level, the assistant acts as an ally of personal autonomy when managing automatic reminders for taking medications, medical appointments and activities of daily living.

Beyond individual support, The system works as a bridge of direct communication with the emotional environment. Seamlessly integrated with WhatsApp, Ato allows users to send and receive voice-dictated audio messages to a predefined contact listwhile family members can set alerts and reminders remotely.

The device was conceived as a coordination platform between relatives, caregivers and health providers, offering monitoring and peace of mind about the well-being of the elderly without resorting to cameras or invasive monitoring mechanisms.

The device can now be reserved directly from its official platform (heyato.ai). Ato will hit the market with a list price of $179although the company launched a pre-sale in stages with graduated discounts: “Founders Edition” a $99 for the first 24 hours and one promotional rate of $129 for the next 48 hours.

The purchasing process includes a one-year warranty, 30-day trial with option to return and full refund in case of cancellationwith first deliveries scheduled to begin in December 2026.
