The County State Attorney’s Office in Varadin filed an appeal against the verdict of the County Court in Varadin, in which a 40-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman were found guilty of criminal offenses of violation of children’s rights to the detriment of three children. Both were sentenced to single prison sentences of 17 years each.
According to the verdict, the criminal acts were committed from July 2020 to December 2024 in a place near Novi Marof.
The defendants were found guilty of two criminal offenses of violation of children’s rights from Article 177, paragraph 4 in connection with paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code, and one criminal offense of violation of children’s rights from Article 177, paragraph 2.

The county state attorney’s office believes that the sentences imposed are too lenient considering the type and gravity of the crimes committed, the way they were committed, the number and length of time, and the consequences that occurred.

For this reason, it filed an appeal against the decision on the sentence and suggested that the defendants be sentenced to longer prison terms.
