“Tic-tac, Xandão”: Trump ally provokes Moraes amid the threat of new sanctions

The post was made on the eve of the trial taking place this Tuesday (15) in the STF plenary on the possible opening of an investigation against Moraes for his relationship with Vorcaro and amid the threat of new United States sanctions being applied against the minister.

On Sunday (13), Miller had already published an image produced by artificial intelligence (AI) that showed Moraes wearing an electronic ankle bracelet.

According to a report published by the portal UOL on Monday, United States authorities stated, on condition of anonymity, that sanctions based on the Magnitsky Act against Moraes could be re-applied “at any time”. So far, there has been no official announcement of a new sanction by the Trump administration.

Moraes has already been targeted by the Magnitsky Act. The United States Treasury Department included the minister on the list of people sanctioned on July 30, 2025, accusing him of human rights violations related to his work at the STF. In September of that year, Washington extended the measures to the minister’s wife, Viviane Barci de Moraes, and the Lex Institute. The sanctions were lifted in December 2025.

This Tuesday, the STF plenary will analyze whether to authorize the opening of an investigation against Moraes based on information obtained by the Federal Police in investigations related to Banco Master. A police report made public messages attributed to Vorcaro addressed to a number associated with the minister. Moraes denies irregularities and accuses André Mendonça of acting with political-electoral motivation when conducting and disclosing elements of the case.

This Monday, journalist Paulo Figueiredo confirmed to People’s Gazette that former federal deputy Eduardo Bolsonaro will have more than one meeting in Washington this week to discuss the possibility of new sanctions against Alexandre de Moraes.
