Louzán: “The role of the referee is more difficult than that of the coach, they have reasons to ask for more empathy”

The president of the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF), Rafael Louzán, expressed this Tuesday that “the role of the referee is even more difficult” than that of the coaches in the world of football, and that is why “they have reasons to ask for more empathy”, thus asking the First and Second Division coaches to go “hand in hand with the referee team, work and empathize.”

“Here is the best panel of coaches in the world, I believe it with my heart. Congratulations to those who in previous seasons have achieved success in all disciplines,” said the leader in statements published by the RFEF, during a meeting with the technicians of LaLiga EA Sports and LaLiga Hypermotion in the Ciudad del Fútbol of Las Rozas.

At the initiative of the Coaches Committee and the RFEF Academy and taking advantage of the international break, the City of Football hosted a meeting in which around 50 technicians from the elite teams of recent seasons participated, such as the coach of FC Barcelona, ​​Hansi Flick; that of Atlético de Madrid, Diego Pablo Simeone; that of Athletic Club, Edin Terzic; or that of the Royal Society, Pellegrino Matarazzo; and with the absence of the Real Madrid coach, José Mourinho.

“We are here because we have the conviction to dialogue and to improve. This Federation listens to you and works to make football a better sport for everyone. The role of the coach is difficult but the role of the referee is even more difficult. They have reasons to ask for more empathy, and for things to be explained more naturally,” said Louzán about the referee group.

Thus, he defended that the panel of referees in Spain is “really good.” “We have the capacity for self-criticism but among all of us it is important to reflect to move forward together. We are in the best League in the world and if so it is because it is made up of the players, the teams, the coaches and the referees. We want to look to the future. I ask that we go hand in hand with the referee team, work and empathize,” he warned.

The president pointed out that the RFEF “has opened itself to the world, analyzes and recognizes its errors, is demanding with itself and with its groups, as well as with the referees of professional football.” “It is important to listen to your contributions in this debate, with critical opinions that are necessary,” he addressed the coaches.

“You are the best and Spanish football can boast of being the best. We are world champions, we are European champions in futsal, etc. That is why I want to congratulate the entire team of coaches. I hope this season that we are starting is successful and that we once again place Spanish football at the highest peak,” Louzán concluded.

The meeting was “with a constructive spirit and a multidisciplinary approach”, and included the participation of the presidents of the Coaches Committee, Iván Cancela, and the Technical Committee of Referees, Fran Soto, as well as the director of the Academy, David Gutiérrez, the head of the LaLiga Presidency Cabinet, Víctor Martín, and the secretary of the Coaches Committee, Pablo Vázquez de Parga.
