Ukraine has hit the Omsk oil refinery again

The governor of Omsk, Vitaly Khotsenko, wrote that the air defense forces were “repelling the enemy’s attack.” He did not provide other details.

Local residents report on social networks that explosions are heard and smoke is seen near the oil refinery. A drone alert has been issued in Omsk, and explosions and sirens are also heard in other parts of the city.

The “Omsk Civil Resistance” Telegram channel reports on complaints from university and college students that they are being refused evacuation despite air raid signals.

“The lecturer continues lecturing while the sirens sound and the students are asked to sit down and take notes,” the channel writes.

Students claim that this is not the first time that something like this happens in at least a dozen educational institutions.

The Omsk oil refinery was first attacked by Ukrainian drones on July 6 of this year. After that, the factory stopped working.

The distance from Omsk to the Ukrainian border is more than 2500 kilometers.

The Omsk plant is Russia’s largest oil refinery with a capacity of about 21 million tons per year. In the spring and summer of 2026, Ukrainian forces struck, sometimes multiple times, all major oil refineries in the European part of Russia. Fuel shortages occurred in many regions of Russia, in part due to the shutdown of oil refineries following the strikes.
