The US administration has approved an agreement to supply Germany with the Hetz-3 anti-missile defense system, developed by Israel with American participation, the Kan News Office reports. The US has veto power over such deals.
“Hetz-3” will become one of the main elements of the “Sky Shield of Europe” system – a common project of the NATO states and Finland, which has not yet joined the bloc. The cost of the transaction is estimated at three billion dollars, it will be the largest in the history of the Aviation Industry concern.
Earlier, Washington blocked the supply of this system to South Korea, but Berlin and Jerusalem hoped that in the current situation, against the background of the war in Ukraine, the deal would be given a green light. These calculations were justified.
According to the media, part of the order will be carried out in the US and Germany, but given the tight deadlines (Germany wants to deploy systems as early as 2025), most of the production of the first batch will be carried out in Israel.
