The Hamas offensive against Israel this weekend also claimed the life of a famous former Israeli soccer player Lior Asulin while he was celebrating his 43rd birthday, reports the local portal One.
Asolin was having a birthday party in the south of the country on Friday when 50 terrorists stormed in and started shooting civilians. Many were killed, including Asulin.
His sister Ortal on social networks on Saturday, before she found out that her brother was dead, she announced: “My brother was at a party in Ra’i and we have not been able to contact him since this morning. He is neither in Soroka nor Barzilai. Please those who can help them contact me”.
He played as a striker, and spent almost his entire career in his homeland. In the first Israeli league, he played 284 games and scored 88 goals, with a short stay in Cyprus in Apollon Limassol in 2008. He played in the UEFA Cup with Hapoel Tel Aviv in 2007/08. He ended his career in 2020 after 23 years.
Played with six Croats
Among others, he shared the dressing room with six Croats, the most in Bnei Yehuda with Vinkovci Hrvo Kovačević (41), Mat Baturin (50). Former Hajduk players Kale Dreschler Company (49) i Joško Bilić (49) played with him in Hapoel Be’er Sheva, i.e. Maccabi Herzyli, former Dynamo player Vedran Ješe (42) in Bnei Yehuda, and the former coach of Rijeka Dragan Tadic (50) and Maccabi Petah Tikvi.
