Big deal for Croatian Gideon: Toyota invests in a robotics company

Toyota Industries Corporation (TICO) and the Croatian company Gideon signed a strategic investment agreement for the development and production of new automated solutions, Gideon announced on Thursday. Technology company Gideon develops and offers leading technologies for controlling autonomous mobile robots (AMR) and application solutions for automating specific processes in warehouse and production environments.

For TICO, this represents a strategic partnership and investment that will enable the optimization of automated vehicle systems through standardization, reduction of implementation time, and increased flexibility, adaptability and scalability. TICO’s global software house for autonomous vehicles, T-Hive, will play a leading role in the application and use of Gideon’s technology within specific areas of TICO’s global portfolio of automated vehicles.

Gideon’s modern software architecture, as well as their artificial intelligence algorithms, will further strengthen TICO’s capabilities in vehicle automation. Collaborative solution for unloading and loading trucks, and ordering goods in retail, are examples of specialized applications of technology that Gideon currently offers to its customers, according to the press release.

This investment enables Gideon to take advantage of Toyota’s global leading expertise in production, broad market access and a global service network.
