Trade unions at Agfa prepare for strike (Antwerp)

The common trade union front at the Antwerp imaging group Agfa has filed a strike notice. ACVBIE spokesperson Koen Zeuwts confirms this.

A strike notice is an official notification by the trade unions to the employer of an intended strike. “We have made the notification jointly with all trade unions: ACVBIE, ACV Puls, ABVV and BBTK,” says Zeuwts.

The trade unions at Agfa claim that there are several points about which it appears that no social consultation with the management is possible. “And meanwhile, people continue to save. With this notice they know that we mean business”, says Zeuwts. “We ask for consultation. The notice runs until June 20 and makes our intentions more than clear.”

In a pamphlet, distributed among the employees, it is stated that “insecurity, work pressure and the required flexibility are becoming increasingly difficult, while enthusiasm and surrender are becoming less and less. Some employees are followed with a chronometer, which raises a lot of questions.”

Furthermore, the unions denounce any recent “reorganizations, transitions and outsourcing (of financial services) in addition to the planned sale of the offset division.” There would also be “sneaky, individual approaches and threats towards employees.” All of this stands in stark contrast to the pay at the top, according to the pamphlet.
