German minister on Iran: A disaster for the world’s economies – there is no exit strategy

German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius criticized the United States on Thursday during a visit to Australia for the lack of an end-of-war strategy in the Iran war.

“There is no strategy, there is no clear objective, and the worst thing in my opinion is that there is no exit strategy,” Pistorius told reporters in Australia on Thursday after meeting with the country’s defense minister by Richard Marles.

Pistorius said Germany was ready to secure “any kind of peace” but that would require a ceasefire.

However, Iran’s peace talks do not seem to be progressing, as the country’s foreign minister Abbas Araghchi announced on Wednesday that Iran would not negotiate with the United States.

President Donald Trump has said that the negotiations are already well underway.

White House Press Secretary Caroline Leavitt threatened on Wednesday that Trump is ready to let “all hell loose” if Iran does not agree to US terms.

Pistorius criticized the United States not only for the lack of an exit strategy, but also for the fact that Germany was not consulted and informed before the attack on Iran by Israel and the United States.

“This is not our war, and we don’t want to be drawn into it.”

The German minister also emphasized the economic effects of the conflict.

“This war is a disaster for the world’s economies. The effects can already be seen after just over two weeks,” Pistorius said.
