Gas stations accept a cap of $28.50, but diesel continues to rise

Gas stations agreed to put a “voluntary cap” of 28.50 pesos per liter on the price of diesel; However, it and Premium gasoline continue to rise, and in some of the remote towns the second fuel was sold for up to 30.90 pesos, according to official data.

As a consequence of the escalation in international crude oil prices, derived from the war conflict in the Middle East, the prices of both fuels yesterday averaged 27.74 pesos and 28.70 nationally, respectively.

President Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo has stated that she is in negotiations so that the price of diesel, the fuel that has the greatest impact on the economy because it is used for the transportation of passengers and goods, does not exceed 28.50 pesos.

“A voluntary limit was accepted, as always, not forced, of 28.50 pesos, and I told them that it is still very high; we must continue lowering it.

“We will continue reviewing it so that the limit is established during this period in which the price of oil is growing.”

The president also highlighted that Petróleos Mexicanos is producing fertilizers and acquired inputs on time, especially urea. “There is a part that is being purchased now and it will represent an increase in costs of about 300 million pesos.

“It is a lot of money, but compared to what it would have meant to import everything, billions of pesos, the impact is less.” This Saturday the head of the Executive will deliver fertilizers in Zacatecas.

The diesel cap will be similar to that agreed for regular gasoline (Magna), whose price does not exceed 24 pesos in most of the national territory.

According to data from the National Energy Commission (CNE), while the price of diesel at the Punta Abrojos service station, located in the municipality of Mulegé, Baja California Sur, was 30.90 pesos per liter yesterday, at the Enrique Lima Zuno gas station, in Isla Mujeres, Quintana Roo, it reached 30.50 pesos.

On average, in Mexico City, Premium gasoline was sold for 28.12 pesos per liter and diesel for 28.54.

In Los Vecinos, Puerto Vallarta, Premium was sold for up to 30.42 pesos, and the other fuel for 30.29 pesos at the Grupo Octano gas station, in the same destination.

In Nuevo León, Premium gasoline was sold for 28.14 pesos and fuel for cargo trucks at 27.98 pesos. At the Servi Benzin service station, in San Pedro Garza García, the second energy was sold for 30.29 pesos, and the first for 29.50.

At the town conference, the president announced that the possibility of including tomato, lemon and chicken in the Package against Inflation and High Costs (Pacic) is being analyzed, given the increase in their prices.

“Two days ago I asked the Secretary of Finance and Public Credit (Édgar Amador Zamora) that we meet with the producers and see the possibility that these products could also enter the Pacic,” he said.
