Deteriorated working conditions or involve personal or health risks, as well as wanting to earn more, are the main reasons why people in Mexico leave their jobs.
According to data from the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (Inegi), Mexicans abandon their jobs – a voluntary act on the part of the employee and stop showing up for work without justification – because working conditions deteriorate (18 percent) and they want a better salary or better themselves (12 percent). Those with high school and higher education are the ones who drop out the most under these two circumstances.
More than half of those who leave their jobs because working conditions deteriorated are men (51.32 percent) and among those who wanted to earn more, six out of 10 are men.
Women lead the cause of job abandonment due to marriage, pregnancy or family responsibilities. In this group, the majority has a high school education.
Although the reasons why a worker decides to resign are diverse, the Inegi detects that there were at least 10 specific factors in this phenomenon. Among others: labor conflicts with his superiors, he could not respond to the demands, discrimination or harassment, pension or retirement, he wanted to become independent and intended to continue studying, mainly.
