Israel: From August 22, prices for state-controlled dairy products will rise by 4.9%

On Sunday, August 21, the directorate of the Council of the Dairy Industry approved a 4.9% increase in prices for state-controlled dairy products, which made it possible to avoid a 14% rise in prices until at least May.

The Walla News website notes that talks between the Dairy Industry Council, the Milk Producers’ Association and the Ministries of Agriculture and Finance lasted about two months and were stalled after the dissolution of the Knesset.

The Globes writes that the decision was made after Tara’s appeal to the joint committee on prices of the ministries of finance and agriculture, with a request to be allowed to raise prices by 9.2%. The Committee held public hearings, during which dairy producers and farmers were heard, and as a result, it was decided to raise prices by 6.5% prices for finished dairy products 14%.

In accordance with the agreement reached, after raising by 4.9%, prices will be frozen until May 2023, after which they will be automatically corrected.

Kan Bet Radio reported that the price increase will come into effect on Monday, August 22.
