Accelerated renovation plan approved for Kiryat Shmona

The plan gives property owners the ability to immediately apply for building permits. It provides for the approval of subdivisions, the addition of residential units and the construction of additional buildings on existing sites. Planning authorities described the initiative as an emergency measure to curb the outflow of population from the city.

The Planning Office fears that without modern housing, many residents will choose not to return home after the end of hostilities. Therefore, all new construction within the plan includes the installation of a standard protected premises (MAMAD). The requirement aims to close the housing security gap, which has become a major obstacle for families in the city.

According to Rafi Almaliah, Director General of the Planning Authority, the plan offers a comprehensive solution in the form of updating the housing stock and providing it with safe premises.
