Personnel effects of artificial intelligence? This is what Elisa’s Topi Manner answers

Utilization of artificial intelligence is a telecom operator company Elisha everyday, and it is a source of growth and productivity for the company, said Elisa’s CEO Topi Manner Kauppalehtin Financial morning in an interview on Tuesday morning.

“Elisa’s customers and owners will benefit from artificial intelligence. The key thing is that the more artificial intelligence and different types of artificial intelligence applications there are in the world, the more fast, better and more reliable communication connections are needed. In other words, our basic bread will expand,” Manner said.

In addition, according to Manner, artificial intelligence can be used as a source of growth in various digital services, such as software.

“Our software business is actually largely based on using artificial intelligence. There are also opportunities to improve productivity in our operations. One example of that is artificial intelligence-assisted coding,” said Manner.

He stated that more than half of Elisa’s coders are external IT consultants.

“We can adjust that resource very flexibly,” Manner said.

Can the use of artificial intelligence have personnel effects at Elisa?

“Certainly personnel effects in the sense that when the utilization of artificial intelligence progresses in the longer term, completely new roles will certainly be created with artificial intelligence and at the same time the need for some roles will decrease,” said Manner.

He estimates that within the roles, there may be some changes in the competence needs and priorities for doing things.

“So when you look at it in the longer term, artificial intelligence will definitely have this type of impact. But as with all other technologies in world history, the way work is done and the roles will change, but new roles will also be created,” Manner said.
