“The numbers don’t close”: they claim that a Buenos Aires municipality did not allocate even half of what was collected last year to maintain rural roads

The numbers were reported from a ruling by the Chamber in the Administrative Containment of San Nicolás based on an amparo presented by the rural entity.

According to the lawyer of the Baradero Rural Society, Pablo Torres Barthethe figures presented by the municipal government – by the mayor of Unión por la Patria (UxP), Esteban Sanzio -, they report that during fiscal year 2025, the municipality budgets a collection between the collection of the road tax and what is assigned by the province of Buenos Aires for the maintenance of rural roads for an approximate total of $1.1 billionof which he spent almost $320 million until the month of October.

In this sense, Torres Barthe published in his X account the details of what was reported by the mayor. The detail is divided into two: on the one hand, what the municipality receives from the province in the tax sharing and what it collects directly from the collection of the rate.

According to the budget, it is highlighted that through the Rural Real Estate tax collected by the province, Baradero would receive $453.849.600 y $106.000.000 in two concepts, while the income via “Conservation and improvement of the municipal road network” (road tax), would be obtained almost $555 million.

According to his vision, “what happens here is that The only thing they use for rural roads is what they receive from the province, but what they receive from the road tax is allocated to general expensessafe.”

Although they are preliminary figures, Torres Barthe announced that they will now focus “on the fine numbers: they are budget and expense sheets that we have to see. But from what the municipality and the budget of the municipal ordinance officially report, the numbers are not closed. Maybe now what we are going to ask them to report for the entire 2025 to be able to make the comparison of what actually entered and what went out to that destination.”
