American airline Spirit Airlines announced the cessation of its operations

American low-cost airline Spirit Airlines announced the cessation of its operations. The reason for this was the doubling of prices for aviation fuel after the outbreak of war in the Middle East.

The US administration has prepared a rescue plan for Spirit, which includes a $500 million federal loan to save 14,000 jobs. The plan, initiated by President Trump, drew criticism from the Republican Party.

However, Minister Sean Duffy said the proposal was rejected by creditors. The company was demanding a $2.5 billion bailout package. The result was the collapse of Spirit, which controlled about 5% of the American air transport market.

Other U.S. carriers said they would provide discounted tickets to stranded passengers so they could return home. Company personnel will be able to do this for free.
