The CEO of Weeks officially announces the layoff of 20% of the employees and blames the dollar

“Today is a sad day for me, we made a very difficult decision. We are reducing the number of employees at Wix by about 20%” – this is what Wix CEO Avishi Abrahami wrote today (Thursday) in a post on Network X, in which he officially announced the layoffs of the giant in the high-tech company. This week it was revealed in Globes that Wix is expected to lay off between 800 and 1,000 employees.

Abrahami explained in the post the reasons for the dramatic and largest layoffs in the company’s history. According to him, the strengthening of the shekel against the dollar, while most of the company’s expenses are in shekels but the revenues are mainly based on dollars, created “structural pressure” on the company’s activities.

Along with this, Abrahami claimed that the rapid development of the field of artificial intelligence fundamentally changes the way technology companies are built and run, and therefore Wix is required to become a “faster, leaner and flatter company” in order to remain competitive in the new era.
